Top 10 Ways to Give Thanks to Your Accounting and Finance Team

Thanksgiving is almost upon us. A time to take stock and give thanks to those who mean so much to us.

That includes your accounting and finance team! After all, 82% of accountants say companies are more demanding these days and 66% worked in the office full-time this year. So give thanks this year with some of these simple ways to express gratitude!

  1. Tell them.
Is this too obvious? But when was the last time you genuinely thanked your team for all their hard work? It costs nothing, takes no time at all, but could really mean a lot to those who work so hard for you.
  1. Wellness. We’ve all had a stressful time of it recently, and with the majority of us feeling burnout, it’s the perfect time to recover with a yoga event, gym pass, or meditation membership.
  1. Lunch. Who doesn’t love a team lunch? It’s a great way to foster a sense of community and teamwork, so book a table for a heartfelt luncheon or knock off early. Don’t forget to stand up and say why you’re treating them!
  1. Team building. There’s a plethora of fantastic team building exercises out there: paint balling, camping, beach cleaning, scavenger hunts, you name it. They’re a great way to blow off steam and build trust.
  1. Let them leave early. Is there a better feeling than leaving work early? Around this time of year there’s always stuff that needs to be done at home: shopping, cleaning, cooking, hosting. Your staff will be over the moon with just an hour off!
  1. Random gifts. This can really brighten up your employee’s day. Just leave a little something on their desk like some candy, movie tickets, books, or candles, and don’t forget a heartfelt note recognizing their hard work.
  1. Gratitude wall. We all love to be acknowledged, so do it publicly by dedicating some office real estate to your staffs’ accomplishments. Put a fun photo of each employee along with something great they’ve done recently. It can be professional or personal!
  1. Stock up. How’s the office kitchen looking? If it’s a bit bare, then it’s time to go shopping. Fill it up with good coffee, different teas, and some nice snacks. They’ll be super thankful when they get the munchies.
  1. Team trophy. This is a bit of fun. Get a trophy made for your team that recognizes their hard work in a fun way. If you have any in-jokes, this is a great way to incorporate them into your culture!
